Admissions Information

Thank you for your interest in the Rosie Sorrells School of Education and Social Services. Our school has 90 openings for the Freshmen class and 10 openings for the Sophomore and Junior class. To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the admission standards presented below.

Grade Point Average (GPA): 75
Note: GPA is determined by adding the 4 core subjects (Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science)
and dividing them by 4.

Norm Referenced or Criterion Tests (STAAR):
Grade 7 ELA - Scale Score – 1621
Grade 7 Math – Scale Score - 1613
Grade 8 ELA – Scale Score – 1662
Grade 8 Math – Scale Score - 1647
*Reading Comprehension or Reading Total will be used for Reading Percentile on Norm Referenced Tests
*Math Problem Solving or Math Total will be used for Math Percentile on Norm Referenced Tests

Golden Phoenix Entry Requirements (STEM Program)

Grade Point Average: Overall average of 85 or higher in Algebra I in the 8th grade and 85 or higher in 8th grade Reading during the first semester.
7th Grade Reading STAAR Score of 1772 or higher
7th Grade Math Score of 1787 or higher

Assessment and Interview Process

The interview process consists of the following:
  1. On-site written essay
  2. On-site reading assessment
  3. On-site math assessment
  4. Interview with recruitment team

The Dallas ISD Magnet fair will be from 9am-4pm.
